'The Rockford Files' Reboot From Mike Daniels Gets Series Order at Peacock

Peacock has given a series order to a new version of The Rockford Files, bringing back the classic 1970s detective drama for a modern audience. The original series starred James Garner as Jim Rockford, a laid-back private investigator living in a trailer by the beach in Malibu, taking small cases, dodging trouble, and answering his clients on a tape-recorded answering machine. The reboot, developed by Mike Daniels, aims to recapture that easygoing detective formula while updating it for today's viewers. The order signals Peacock's bet on familiar titles, as streamers keep reviving well-known shows to draw in audiences who already know the characters. Source: Variety, November 5, 2026.
